Sukiyaki
Beef with vegetables, mushrooms and tofu fried with sauce.
Sukiyaki is a dish made of slices of beef fried in vegetable oil with leek, mushrooms, Chinese cabbage and other ingredients. Sukiyaki is eaten by dipping in an egg yolk.
Ingredients (4 servings):
400 g. beef
2 tofu
300 g. leek
100 gobo (burdock's root)
50 g. mushrooms
100 g. syungiku
4 eggs
For warishita sauce:
1 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup mirin
2 tsp sugar
1/2 cup dashi
Preparation:
1. Prepare and slice all the ingredients. Mix all the ingredients for warishita sauce and bring to the boil.
2. Warm up the pan for sukiyaki and melt beef lard. Put beef into the pan. When it starts toasting add some warishita, vegetables, mushrooms and tofu to it.
3. Pour beaten up eggs into small plates, dip beef slices into them and then eat.
