Akita fuki (coltsfoot) is the real Japanese product.

Fuki has a very small size. But its leaves may be about 1 meter in diameter and 2 meters in height. The vegetable is unpretentious and may grow everywhere. Fuki consists in the group of vegetables, which are used in Japan. In winter it has yellow flowers. It has begun to be cultivated in the Heian period.

Fuki is widely used in Kansai. 2/3 of all fuki is cultivated in the Aiti prefecture. Fuki is a long-term herb of chrysanthemums family and divided on male and female fuki.

In Hokkaido you can see a big wild coltsfoot. The cultivation type of this coltsfoot is called akita fuki. The diameter of its leaves is 1 meter and height is 2 meters. It is possible to hide from rain under it. In the ancient times people have been using its leaves as umbrellas.
