Red bean called azuki became the product, which is closely connected with life of Japanese people since the ancient times. Due to the legend, the red color of azuki has the power, which lays evil spirits and sanctifies. People defended themselves from misfortunes if consuming dishes with azuki. Nowadays Japanese people cook red cream of rice and use the stuffing made of azuki in sweets on the New Year celebrations and other holidays.
China, Thailand, Canada and other countries produce red bean as well. 70-80% of produced red beans in Japan falls at the island Hokkaido.
Azuki contains a lot of ferrum, potassium, dietary fibers, vitamins B1 and B2.
