The history of bizenyaki has begun at the end of XII century. The glaze wasn't used in industry. At the beginning it was produced crockery for everyday use. After that because of development of tea ceremony it was produced tea-things. The main characteristic of those things was china clay of higher clamminess a high iron.
Koishiwarayaki (Fukuoka prefecture)

In 1682 the local tycoon has invited a master from Imari. The technique of the school existing here has mixed up with the new technique from Imari and this served as a beginning of production of koishivarayaki. Characteristic feature is especial pattern and peculiar technique.

In 1602 the local tycoon has invited Korean masters, who have launched the production of china. The characteristic feature of this crockery is the presence of various glazes. The typical shades of the glaze for aganoyaki are green and blue green.
Oohori somayaki (Fukushima prefecture)

The production of this china has begun in XVII century. Nowadays there are over 20 potteries that produce cups, crockery, vases and ashtrays. Green color and plenty of black cracks are typical for this kind of crockery. Sometimes it is met the pattern that shows running horse. And cups with double-bottom are met as well.
Aizu honguyaki (Fukushima prefecture)
Aizu honguyaki is the oldest chinaware in Tohoku rayon. The origin of this china is connected with the presence of proper china clay and with inviting masters from Semo.

Kasamayaki is the china, which comes from Kasama. The master from Shigaraki lived in Kasama in 1772-81. The history of production begins with that the master has taught the head of the city how to make chinaware. At the beginning it was produced cooking battery. At the present the quantity of masters has reached 200. The characteristic features of this china are delicate color and hand-made.

The history of karatsuyaki takes place at the end of 16th century and at the beginning of XVII century after assimilation of technique of Korean master. The very topgallant of karatsuyaki has fallen on 1615-24 years. After developing another type of china called arita, karatsuyaki declines. This china has got new mark and nowadays it is popular among lovers of the tea ceremony, since the World War II. The characteristic features of this crockery are ashen and gravel colors and the simplicity of the chinaware.

Once the ruler Ryukyu gathered all masters together in one pottery and borrowed the technique from Korea and Sazimi, having founded his own style. At the present tsuboyaki is divided into two parts, the china with using glaze and without using glaze. The characteristic features of such china are simple and heavy shapes with a warm color.

This type of chinaware has appeared about 400 years ago (in 1598) when the local tycoon went to the war in Korea and brought masters of china producing. After building a pottery in Hasami village he has begun producing chinaware. When it was found china stuff in the village it has become drawing it. Thus the blue china was very popular and at the end of 19th century this enterprise took the first place.
The characteristic feature of this chinaware is clear, white, beautiful view with blue pattern.

This is varnished chinaware that is produced in Wazima city. This is crockery for everyday using.
The reason of developing of the Japanese varnished crockery in Wazima is as follows. There was lot of raw materials, such as varnish tree etc. Here it was producing cups, using these materials. About 600 years ago a monk came to Wazima from Kyusyu and started producing cups. That was the beginning of manufacturing wazimanuri. 330 years ago it was found the proper solution for the production of wazimanuri. The main characteristic is the hardness of the chinaware.
Kutaniyaki (Ishikawa prefecture)

After discovering suitable good china clay in 1661, the local samurai Goto Sanjiro has built potteries here under the protection of the local tycoon. After a while it has begun an export abroad where Japanese kutani are of high value.
The characteristic feature of this type of china is beautiful pictures, drawn by marvelous colors, reflecting the period when it was created.

The history of this chinaware has begun in the ancient times. It was developed the production of china here as this place suited for building potteries because of large amount of trees. Here it was found the signs of pottery activities, dated VI-VII centuries. This china that has ancient history is delivered for all regions of the country. The main feature of this china is hard surface and long integrity.

This sort has got its name from the one of a harbor, through which it was delivered all over the country and abroad. The characteristic feature was (as it is seen by vase and doll) using gold and red colors. There is also luxurious chinaware, for decoration of which it is used only blue color.

The place where the china was found in Japan is called arita. This is the place where in 1616 the Korean master has discovered clay field and created the production of chinaware. The east-Indian company was engaged in export of chinaware in Arita. And while it has been developing the china production, in Imari the local tycoon has built up potteries and tried to keep back the secret of china production. This chinaware is called imariyaki.

Chinaware, called mikawachiyaki has four hundred years history and is known not only in Japan but also all over the world. Its graceful pictures at the thin white chinaware are the real masterpieces. This chinaware is exhibited in London museums and is highly valued because of the patterns. The most well known one is "Chinese boys is playing with butterflies under the pine-tree".

The potteries of setoyaki are situated in the Seto city, prefecture of Aiti. There are different shapes of this chinaware. The china of this type is known since the 8th century. And in the XII century the master Kato Toshiro has introduced the Chinese technique into the production. This chinaware has been delivered overseas in large quantities in the XIX century.

This type of china has being known since the XIV century. But a good master has appeared a bit later in 1644, when he opened his own pottery and started surprising people with bright patterns. Ogata Kenzan was famous master as well in the XIX century. A beautiful traditional pattern made by gold color and various styles is typical for this kind of china.

The china wanoyaki is produced in Sekkaichi city. The history of this china has begun in the XVIII century. At the same time it has arisen the traditional stem called "wanko". Vases account for 90 per cent of all produced chinaware (which makes 60 per cent of all produced chinaware in Japan). The characteristic feature is that the clay contains iron. Graceful violet color differences it. This china has become well known all over the world due to this color. It is produced large amount of donabe (pots) in Sekkaichi.

This production of the Japanese vases is highly rated. When igayaki is wet with water, it turns shining with a beautiful color, forming different patterns. This chinaware started being produced 200 years ago, when there was a big lake Iga, from the bottom of which it was got sandy that was essential for producing chinaware.

Echizenyaki has been produced in the village Miyazaki since 1192. Firstly, it was the chinaware for everyday use without glaze. The characteristic view is the plain china of natural yellow color. Recently, it has appeared the chinaware with glaze.
